Royal College of Nursings Learning Zone, developed by Axia CitizenConnect wins second prestigious award
Axia CitizenConnect has won a World Wide Web Health Award with the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Learning Zone in the category for Miscellaneous/Professional Extranets.
The RCN Learning Zone is a developing Internet-based service that supports high quality learning for busy nurses through a medium that is accessible to all.
The World Wide Web Health Awards is a program that recognizes the best health-related Web sites for consumers and professionals. The program is held twice a year with the goal of providing a seal of quality for electronic health information. The award, which was judged by a panel of international health information and Internet experts, was based upon accuracy, success in reaching the targeted audience and overall quality of the application.
This is the second award Axia CitizenConnect and the RCN have won for their innovative Learning Zone application, the first being in November 2002 for top service launch of the year at the Canadian Branham Awards.
The RCN is committed to providing its members with the support and mechanisms for sustainable continuing professional development and the work with Axia CitizenConnect involved RCN members at all stages of development. Dr Liz Clark, Head of Distance Learning, said "The Learning Zone is part of our vision for lifelong learning for nurses and we are excited by the potential of the Learning Zone to support members development. Around 1,000 members register for the Learning Zone every month and we have received some really good feedback about the difference it is beginning to make to busy nurses. We are constantly trying out new ideas so that we can push forward the boundaries of accessible learning."
On receiving the award, Chris Peat, Director of Business Development, Axia CitizenConnect said "Winning this second award demonstrates that the Learning Zone is at the forefront of the delivery of e-services. The Learning Zone provides nurses with quality assured information, learning modules for personal and professional development and an e-portfolio for capturing their lifelong learning." Chris went on to say "Our partnership with the RCN continues to go from strength to strength and we are privileged to be working with innovative leaders in the CPD field".
